Photography has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up in Rochester, NY, the home of Eastman Kodak Co., everyone had a camera even the children. For my grammar school graduation, my dad gave me a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye camera. The following fall when I entered a vocational high school my first exploratory shop class was in Graphic Arts. This is when my lifelong photographic hobby began.
Through the years I have used many different cameras, from simple point-and-shoot cameras to more advanced SLR cameras like my professional Mamiya 4 x4 camera. I even had my own color darkroom. I took a break for many years but came back when digital cameras became affordable in the early ’2000s. I now enjoy processing my images digitally. Now, I take photographs whenever I can. My photographs include vacations, landscapes, flowers, wildlife, and rocket launches.
Photography to me is capturing a moment in time that you can never get back. It’s a way of preserving memories and feelings. Sometimes it’s the only way to truly capture the feeling of a moment.
